Best Practice Quick Reference
Title — ideal length
50–60 characters. Google typically displays the first 600px — roughly 60 characters in desktop results.
Description — ideal length
140–160 characters. Longer descriptions get truncated. Shorter ones miss the opportunity to sell the click.
Include your keyword
Your primary target keyword should appear near the start of both the title and the description. Google bolds matching terms.
Write for the human first
Meta descriptions don't directly affect rankings — they affect click-through rate. Write to convince the searcher to click, not to impress an algorithm.
Unique per page
Every page needs a unique meta title and description. Duplicates dilute your SEO and confuse searchers comparing results.
Include a CTA
Description CTAs like "free consultation", "get a quote", or "find out more" measurably improve click-through rates.

How it works

Paste your title and description. The tool shows a preview of the Google result on desktop and mobile and warns you if either will be cut off.

What makes a good one

Title. The search term near the front, your brand at the end, around 55 to 60 characters.

Description. What the page offers and why to click, around 150 to 160 characters, written for a person rather than a keyword counter. Google rewrites descriptions it doesn't like, so a clear honest one survives better than a stuffed one.
