Web Design for Mortgage Brokers

People choosing a broker are nervous, comparing, and searching at eleven at night. Your website has to work for all three.

Clever Lending had no marketing when they came to us. Four leads a month, all from referrals. We built them a new WordPress site and a full digital marketing plan, and leads went to more than 30 a month.

Trust first, then everything else

A mortgage is the biggest financial decision most people make, and a broker's website is where they decide whether to trust you with it. That means clear explanation of what you do and what it costs, your FCA status where people can see it, real reviews, and a way to get in touch that doesn't feel like signing up for something. It also means your site has to comply with the rules on financial promotions, which we build in rather than bolt on.

Where mortgage leads come from online

Searches like "mortgage broker near me", "first time buyer mortgage advice" and "remortgage [town]" are competitive and expensive. The approach that works is a website built to convert, local SEO for the searches that mention your area, Google Ads for the ones with clear intent, and landing pages that match what the person searched for. That's the plan we ran for Clever Lending.

How we'd do it

Websites for mortgage brokers: your questions

What regulatory information has to be on a mortgage broker's website?

At a minimum, your FCA status in the footer of every page, with your firm reference number, and if you're an appointed representative, the name of your principal firm. Mortgage promotions also need the right risk warning, such as the repossession warning, wherever a mortgage is promoted. We build these in, but your network or compliance adviser should sign off the wording.

Do financial promotion rules apply to my website and Google Ads?

Yes. Your website, landing pages, social posts and ads are all financial promotions and must be clear, fair and not misleading. That affects headlines, rate claims and how you describe fees, so we write with that in mind from the first draft.

Does the Consumer Duty affect my website?

It does. Since July 2023, the FCA expects firms to make sure customers understand what they're getting, so plain explanations of your service, fees and how you're paid are a requirement, not a nice extra.

Where do mortgage leads come from online?

Searches like "mortgage broker near me", "first time buyer mortgage advice" and "remortgage" plus a town name. They're competitive, so you need a site built to convert, local SEO and, usually, Google Ads with landing pages that match each search. That's the approach that took Clever Lending from four leads a month to more than 30.

Can I put reviews on my website?

Yes, and you should. Real reviews from a recognised platform are the strongest trust signal a broker has. Check with your compliance adviser how they want reviews presented alongside promotions.

Do you work for other brokers in my area?

No. One broker per service area.
