Web Design for Trades and Hire Companies
Builders, plumbers, heating engineers, hire firms. Different jobs, same problem: being the one who gets the call.
Buildable had no website and relied on word of mouth. We built one and started SEO, and they now get more than 20 local leads a month. Accelerator Hire had no website and no marketing; a new site and Google Ads took them from 10 leads a month to more than 50.
What a trade's website has to do
Make it obvious what you do, where you do it and how to get hold of you, in the first few seconds and on a phone. Show the work, because photos of real jobs sell better than anything we could write. Carry the qualifications and accreditations customers look for (Gas Safe, NICEIC, CHAS, whichever apply). Collect reviews and show them. Nothing clever, done properly.
Where trade enquiries come from
Local searches, almost entirely. "Plumber near me", "builders in [town]", "plant hire [area]". That makes local SEO the core of the job: a Google Business Profile that's complete and active, a site structured around your services and your area, and reviews that keep coming. Google Ads fill the gaps when you want the phone busier, and for hire companies with a wider reach they're often the main source.
One trade per area
We won't take on two businesses in the same trade in the same area. If we're ranking you, we're not ranking your competitor.
How we'd do it
Websites for trades and hire companies: your questions
I get enough work from word of mouth. Do I need a website?
People who hear about you by word of mouth still look you up before they ring. If they find nothing, or an old site, some of them ring someone else. Buildable relied on word of mouth with no website; after we built one and started SEO, they now get more than 20 local leads a month.
Which accreditations should I show?
The ones you genuinely hold, with registration numbers where the scheme provides them: Gas Safe for gas work, NICEIC or NAPIT for electrical, TrustMark, CHAS or Constructionline for commercial work. Only show logos you're entitled to use; the schemes check, and customers do too.
Is Google Ads worth it for a hire company?
Often it's the main source of enquiries, because hire customers search with a clear need and a deadline. Accelerator Hire had no website and no marketing; a new site and Google Ads took them from 10 leads a month to more than 50.
Can customers check availability or book hire online?
Yes. We can build online booking or availability checks for hire equipment, or a simple quote request if your pricing depends on the job.
Should I have a page for every town I cover?
Only for the towns that bring you real work, and only if each page has something specific to say, such as jobs you've done there. Twenty near-identical town pages are likely to be ignored by Google.
Do you work with other firms in my trade?
No. One business per trade per area.
